Um projeto bacana, relevante e até necessário, mas que foi embalado por uma “picaretagem” que pretendia “ressuscitar os Beatles, em 1970. M<esmo assim, acabou sendo um dos mais importantes lançamentos fonográficos e audiovisuais do final do século passado.
“Anthology” está completando 30 anos de seu lançamento e voltou ao mercado com novidades, inclusive em versão em LP. O áudio foi retrabalhado em CD e streaming, assim como o documentário em vídeo receberá novo tratamento para eventuais versões em DVD e Blu-Ray.
Além dos três CDs duplos originais, há discos extras com material não divulgado à época, com muita coisa ainda inédita, tudo devidamente remixado e remasterizado
A série passa a ter nove partes, com um episódio inédito construído a partir de registros de 1994 e 1995. A estreia ocorrerá no Disney+ em 26 de novembro de 2025.
A reedição tem a colaboração do diretor d cinema neozelandês Peter Jackson, que dirigiu “Get Back”, e Giles Martin, produtor inglês que é filho de George Martin, que trabalhou em quase todos os álbuns dos Beatles.
Os produtos em áudio chegam em 21 de novembro com uma caixa expandida em formatos 12 LP e 8 CDs, além de edições digitais. O conjunto reúne 191 faixas e restaura a curadoria de “Anthology 1–3”.
Uma coisa boa dessa versão é que não terá armações como rascunhos ou demos descartadas que foram “completadas” por membro ainda vivos da banda. Esse era o chamariz da versão original – gravações caseiras de John Lennon, morto em 1980, sem finalização, que caíram nas mãos dos ex-integrantes ainda vivos na época e que seriam retrabalhadas e lançadas como “canções novas e inéditas dos Beatles”.
Foram os casos de “Free as a Bird” e “Real Love”, que impulsionaram a venda dos CDs duplos. Os resultados musicais das duas canções ficaram bem aquém de um trabalho que recebeu o crédito de “canções dos Beatles”
“Anthology 4”, o disco adicional, traz 13 gravações inéditas entre demos e outtakes de estúdio. O volume inclui novas mixagens de “Free as a Bird” e “Real Love”, agora com vocais de Lennin retrabalhados pelo produtor original Jeff Lynne. A coletânea também incorpora “Now and Then”, lançada em 2023.
Em 14 de outubro, a editora relança a edição de 25 anos do livro “The Beatles Anthology, com 368 páginas e mais de 1.300 imagens e documentos. As pré-vendas estão ativas nas lojas oficiais.
O pacote promete valorizar o que foi um grande evento às vésperas do século XXI. “Anthology” serviu não só para apresentar a banda para uma nova geração como escavar material arqueológico precioso esquecido nos arquivos da EMI e da emissora de rádio BBC.
Muitas versões de clássicos da banda executados ao vivo e material de outros artistas antes executados apenas em programas de rádio finalmente ganhavam versões comerciais antes disponíveis apenas em LPs/CDs “piratas”/bootlegs (gravações de estúdio ou ao vivo não autorizadas).
O retrato que “Anthoogy” revela é oi de uma banda extraordinária em gravações espontâneas cheias de energia e vontade. Os quatro mostravam que estavam bem à frente de seu tempo, com performances com inovação e muita garra. Isso fica evidente na dois primeiros volumes do projeto. A reedição pe uma das ótimas notícias deste ano.
